Hello, I’m Nguyễn Khắc Giang, a Vietnamese writer and researcher. I used to work as a journalist in Hanoi, before moving to academia as a political researcher for Vietnam Institute of Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) where I was formerly its head of Political Research Unit. I obtained my PhD in Political Science from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, where I compared the Vietnamese and Chinese political developments and state capacity during the Reform era. My thesis can be found here.
I’m also a research fellow at Vietnam Center for Economic and Strategic Studies (VESS). I comment on Vietnamese affairs and write extensively for major Vietnamese and English news outlets.
My areas of interest are Vietnam and Asian affairs.
My latest CV (July 2022) is here.
